Showcasing the Fusion of Contemporary Art and Mobility at Frieze Los Angeles

AFEELA at Frieze Los Angeles 2026

Sony Honda Mobility Inc. (SHM) displayed special exhibition AFEELA 1, created in collaboration with artist and director Matt Copson at Frieze Los Angeles 2026, held from February 26 to March 1 at Santa Monica Airport, California.

Matt Copson is renowned for his visionary mastery of light and motion, imbuing his work with a vivid, living energy. Over the four-day event, the AFEELA 1 featured a cohesive design that spanned from the exterior to the in-car digital interfaces, including the Media Bar and Panoramic Screen—all reflecting Copson’s distinctive drawing style. The AFEELA exhibition welcomed a diverse range of visitors, including global collectors, creators, and media professionals who experienced new frontiers of expression at the intersection of contemporary art and mobility through the immersive artwork and in-car demonstrations.

I wanted to use the car as a canvas for drawing with light – using reflective material more commonly found on emergency vehicles and signage. Depending on the time of day and where you see the car the drawing will appear and animate itself, calling attention to itself in a flash of gestural expression.

Attendees expressed surprise at how mobility could offer such a creative and experiential space. Many noted the seamless harmony between the exterior design and the artwork displayed on the Panoramic Screen. Beyond the exhibit itself, the limited-edition tote bags featuring the collaboration design proved to be another major draw for visitors.

The special AFEELA 1 showcased at Frieze Los Angeles will also be on display at AFEELA Studio & Delivery Hub Fremont.

Looking ahead, SHM also plans to bring this immersive art experience to Frieze New York 2026, to be held at The Shed in Manhattan, New York from May 13 to May 17, 2026. The exhibition will once again feature the collaboration with Matt Copson.

Under the vision of “Mobility as a Creative Entertainment Space”, SHM continues to explore new mobility experiences through collaborations with various creators and partners.
